ScottsMiracle-Gro Partners with Petitti Garden Centers to Support Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital

This spring, one of the company’s long-standing independent partners, Petitti Garden Centers in Cleveland, invited ScottsMiracle-Gro to join its “Lend-A-Hand" campaign to benefit the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital. Through this partnership, Petitti and ScottsMiracle-Gro recently made a $100,000 donation to support critical pediatric patient care programs at Cleveland Clinic Children’s.

The “Lend-A-Hand” program is a cause marketing initiative launched by Petitti Garden Centers in 2010. Each spring, Petitti shoppers are asked to make a donation at the time of checkout to support Cleveland Clinic Children’s. ScottsMiracle-Gro, the first manufacturing partner to be a part of this pioneering program, committed to make a dollar-for-dollar match of all donations made by Petitti customers.

The popular “Lend-A-Hand” campaign was promoted on billboards, TV and radio spots, as well as in-store promotions at Petitti locations in the Cleveland area.

Over a two-month period this past spring, Petitti shoppers donated $50,000 to support the cause. ScottsMiracle-Gro then provided another $50,000 match. On October 20, Barry Sanders, president at ScottsMiracle-Gro, joined Petitti President AJ Petitti to present a $100,000 check to Dr. Giovanni Piedimonte, physician-in-chief, Cleveland Clinic Children’s. Proceeds from the “Lend-A-Hand” campaign will support vital programming at the Clinic including, wellness outreach, charity care and medical research.

“Both Scotts and Petitti’s care about the community, so this was a great way for us to come together to support the life-changing work of the Cleveland Clinic,” said Sanders. “Our involvement with the Clinic is just one example of our commitment to the Cleveland community and builds on our support of the city’s urban center.”

In 2012, ScottsMiracle-Gro partnered with the City of Cleveland and other philanthropic partners to bring a GRO1000 grant to the Urban Agriculture Innovation Zone in the Kinsman neighborhood. The Urban Agriculture Innovation Zone is a cutting-edge project, which is repurposing 26 acres of vacant, formerly residential land in Cleveland for urban agriculture. City of Cleveland leadership is committed to the development of urban agriculture, gardens and green spaces as part of the City’s “Re-Imagining Cleveland” initiative.
